What is  Goulash?

Goulash is the most popular and traditional dish of Hungary. The roots of goulash dates back to 9th century. It was a very common dish among shepherds at the time who used to cook goulash before taking their herds out to graze. It was prepared both as a main course or a soup. Here is a classic Hungarian goulash recipe:

Ingredients of Goulash?

 

600 gr of beef or pork
1 medium potato
2 medium onions
2 large red bell peppers
2 medium tomatoes
5 cloves of garlic
3 tablespoons of oil
1 water glass of meat juice
1 tablespoon of tomato paste
3-4 branch of parsley
Salt, pepper and red pepper

Preparation of Goulash

  1. Roast chopped onion and garlic with oil on the cooker.
  2. Continue by adding meat and keep roasting until the meat is well cooked.
  3. Add the grilled tomatoes, finely chopped peppers, cube potatoes , some salt, pepper together with a glass of broth and tomato paste.
  4. Cook the dish over a medium heat until the meat gets softened while keeping the saucepan lid closed.
  5. Serve it with sprinkled parsley.
