What is Ransomware

Ransomware is a type of cyberattack which leaks into the systems and encrypt the data in those systems, or computer/ server themselves and request money to give it back.

It may spread via Ms word files, other office documents, PDFs and other files that could be received or sent via email.

In the latest ransomware cyberattacks, the infection was spread through the virus called WanaCrypt0r 2.0 which requested 300 USD bitcoin to release the data or system back.

Why are the Systems Vulnerable to WanaCrypt0r 2.0?

It is basically due to the fact that operating systems of some computers are obsolete or lacking serious security patches (no update performed). Additionally, PCs lacking (updated) anti-virus software have the vulnerability against ransomware attacks.
